Mergi releases

The first release of Mergi, the private PDF viewer and toolkit for Windows: a real viewer, free everyday tools and Mergi Premium for the serious jobs. Every tool works on your computer. Read the documentation to get started.

New

• A real PDF viewer: tabs, thumbnails and bookmarks, select and copy text, search with highlights, links, zoom, the hand tool and printing.

• A print dialog with a live preview of every sheet: printer, pages, copies, layout, colour, paper size, pages per sheet, margins (also custom), scale, quality and two-sided printing. Save as PDF writes a real PDF of the chosen pages. The Windows print dialog is one click (or Ctrl+Shift+P) away.

• Right-click a page for copy and search, zoom, the pages, the tools, print, the properties, "Open in" a tool and its folder.

• Merge files, with page ranges, rotation and a bookmark for each file.

• Organize pages: drag to reorder, rotate, duplicate and delete pages from one or several files, with undo.

• Split a file every N pages, into single pages, by page ranges or by its bookmarks.

• Extract pages into a new file, or remove them from a file.

• Read the document properties and check the digital signatures of any PDF, for free.

• Premium: export pages as PNG, JPEG, WebP or TIFF pictures, or the text as plain text or Markdown.

• Premium: edit or remove the title, author, subject and keywords.

• Premium: compress files, with three levels to choose from.

• Premium: protect files with an AES-256 password, or remove the password of a file.

• Premium: stamp a watermark (text in any Google font, or a picture) or page numbers, placed by dragging it on the page.

• Premium: turn pictures into a PDF (PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, JPEG 2000), with phone photos upright.

• Premium: redact words, phrases and drawn areas. The text is removed for good, not only covered.

• Premium: sign documents with your certificate, with a visible signature box and a trusted timestamp, and keep your signers for next time.

• Premium: fill in PDF forms right in the viewer (text, check boxes, radio buttons, lists, with the form's own totals and checks), import and export the answers as FDF, and save the form, save a copy, or save it flattened.

• Premium: Batch runs Compress, Protect, Unlock, Stamp, Properties or Redact on many files at once.

• Light and dark themes, eight accent colours, English and Spanish.

• Quick search (Ctrl+K) finds every tool and your recent files.

• A Help menu in the title bar: the user guide, contact support, buy Premium or see your licence, check for updates and the licence agreement.

• Drop PDFs anywhere on the window. Mergi can also be the "Open with" choice for PDFs in Explorer.

• Close to the tray, with a card when a job finishes while the window is hidden.

• A short tour on the first start, which you can skip and take again from Settings.

• Updates are checked and installed from inside the app, and Mergi shows what changed after each one.

• Passwords are asked once: a protected file stays protected after a tool changes it, and opens again without asking for the session.

• Your files never leave your computer.
